Light Heavyweight – Israel Adesanya
Yes, I do believe Israel Adesanya will be a double champion at the end of 2021. As of now, I believe that Adesanya will beat Jan Blachowicz for the Light Heavyweight title when they face off next year. I think Jan is great, but I feel like Izzy will simply pick him apart like he did Paulo Costa and what he would’ve done to Yoel Romero if Romero progressed in that fight. I’m not sure if Adesanya will fight Jon Jones next year and what weight class that would be fought at but if that does happen and if it is at Light Heavyweight, my prediction could be different.
Heavyweight – Stipe Miocic
Ngannou can beat Stipe, it only takes one shot for him to do so. However, Stipe has beaten him before, simply being the smarter and better fighter and I think it will happen again. Ngannou has improved since their first fight, however, I think Stipe will out wrestle him and beat him by decision. If Ngannou does beat Stipe, my prediction would’ve been Jones. I do think Jones would beat Stipe as well, but Stipe nowadays seems to only fight once a year so I’m going with Stipe instead of Jones.
Women’s Strawweight – Weili Zhang
This one was tough because we’ve seen the title change hands so many times over the last three years. However, I think Zhang could actually hold it for the considerable future. I think her toughest test will be Rose Namajunas, as I expect ‘Thug Rose’ to try and take the champion down and keep her down but Zhang is good wherever the fight goes so I’m confident in her ability to win this fight. I hope we get JJ vs Zhang 2. I know JJ has had many opportunities at the title, but there’s a reason for that, she’s one of the greatest of all time. JJ can definitely beat Zhang as well, yet I still think at the end of the year Zhang will be Strawweight Champion.
Flyweight – Valentina Shevchenko
I don’t think this one needs that much explanation. There’s no one even close to her level in that division. Maybe the addition of Jessica Andrade may give Valentina a test, but I still feel like she’ll prevail as she’s much bigger as Jessica has moved up in weight class. In terms of skill, Valentina is a bit better as well in all aspects. However, what Andrade has over most of Valentina’s opposition is that she’s durable and has brilliant cardio and can KO anyone with her power but I still side with ‘The Bullet’ if these two were to face off.
Bantamweight – Amanda Nunes
No explanation needed. She’s beaten every contender convincingly and when she eventually faces Aspen Ladd, I expect the same result.
Featherweight – Amanda Nunes/No one
When Amanda faces Megan Anderson next year, I expect that to be the last fight for the Women’s Featherweight division. The UFC are already making cuts and there aren’t enough fighters for the division. Amanda has cleared the ones that are there already. So it’s bye bye for the female featherweights in my eyes.
