Khabib Nurmagomedov. The most dominant fighter of all time. I don’t think we’ll ever see anyone like him ever again. The Eagle retired after his victory against Justin Gaethje last night at UFC 254 and cemented his legacy as being the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC.
His record speaks for itself. 29 wins. 0 losses. 13 wins in the most competitive division the UFC has and he’s only lost one round in those fights.
This fight against Gaethje was Khabib’s biggest test, and he passed with ease. Stylistically, Gaethje was the one who should’ve put Khabib under the most pressure we’ve ever seen but Khabib proved that he isn’t just a sambo style wrestler as in the standup portion of the fight, Khabib looked more comfortable than Justin and to be honest, he made Justin look like a novice on his feet, something we’ve never seen before. Even with his history in wrestling, Justin couldn’t compare to Khabib on the ground and the dominance I saw from Khabib last night was nothing like I’ve ever seen from him before.
It’s been a pleasure to have been able to watch Khabib fight throughout the years. I wish we could’ve got the 30-0 fight against Georges St-Pierre but I respect his and his mother’s decision to no longer fight without his father in his corner.
Thanks Khabib.
