Another month, another NXT PPV. It seems like we’re starting to get more of these at the moment and I’m not complaining. Let’s get into the predictions.
Kushida vs Velveteen Dream
I think it’ll be interesting to see their two contrasting styles of wrestling in the ring together. We’ve seen a more aggressive Kushida in recent weeks and I think that’ll be a key part in the storytelling during the match. Dream is coming off of being sidelined due to multiple reasons, injury and the allegations made about him on sexual assault, so he hasn’t had as much heat on him as of recent. I think they’re going to continue to build Kushida up and he’ll join the North American or Cruiserweight title picture. I’ve got Kushida winning this one.
Santos Escobar (c) vs Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott – NXT Cruiserweight Championship
This is a feud that I’ve been pretty invested in. I think Escobar and Legado del Fantasma have made this division really intriguing and it’s risen even more in quality over the last year. I really like both guys and I can picture both guys winning, but I think Santos Escobar will take the win. His reign has been really good so far and there’s no need to end it now. I think Legado del Fantasma will get involved and Scott will fight them off, however in the end the numbers will catch up to him and Escobar will retain in a controversial manner
Damian Priest (c) vs Johnny Gargano – NXT North American Championship
I think this one is pretty easy to predict however, NXT may throw as curveball at us. As Johnny is the most decorated NXT superstar of all time, there’s no need for him to take the title off Priest as he’s up and coming in the scene. However, the curveball is if Candice LeRae, Johnny’s wife wins against Io Shirai for the Women’s title. As this would mean both Gargano’s are NXT champions. However, I’m going to play it safe and go with a Priest win.
Io Shirai (c) vs Candice LeRae – NXT Women’s Championship
I love both of these women. They’re two of the best NXT have to offer and their in-ring chemistry is outstanding. I kind of want Candice to win as she’s yet to hold gold in the black and gold brand, but I think if her husband loses, then she’ll lose as well. I hope Candice gets the title soon though. Maybe in a rematch later on this year. If it wasn’t for the news that Tegan Nox unfortunately got injured again, I would’ve gone with Candice, the idea being Candice continues her feud with Nox after beating Shirai.
Finn Balor (c) vs Kyle O’Reilly – NXT Championship
I can’t wait! If you didn’t know, my favourite wrestler in the world is Kyle O’Reilly, so my heart is telling me to pick him, but Finn just became champ a couple of weeks ago and I don’t see them taking the belt off of him just yet. I think the two main things to predict here are what star rating will this get? And, will we see the Undisputed Era split up? To answer those, I’m saying a 5 star rating and no. I think they’ll keep the UE together for the foreseeable future and if they do split, it will be after a dumb Vince McMahon decision made on the main roster. I hope Kyle wins though.
This card looks incredible and I think if we had a proper crowd at our disposal, this could genuinely go down as one of the greatest NXT Takeover’s of all time.
