So going into Wednesday we have two massive shows for NXT and AEW. The tensions between these two companies is at an all-time high and I can’t wait to see who delivers the goods.
Both shows were putting on shows with high calibre matches and high profile stars on to outdo the other in the ratings. We’ve had Mike Tyson show up on AEW in previous weeks and we’ve seen a lot of main roster stars such as Charlotte Flair, Bayley and Sasha Banks to show up on NXT to help boost their ratings.
Now we have both shows essentially putting on PPV level matches on regular TV shows to beat the opposition and us fans just get to take in all of the action. After finding out Fyter Fest was a two-week event, NXT knew that the attention would be on their bitter rivals and decided to come up with The Great American Bash.
It’ll be interesting which brand will hold the majority of the ratings this week as NXT scored their first rating victory since early April. This was definitely due to the main event of NXT where we got a North American Championship triple threat between Keith Lee, Finn Balor and Johnny Gargano. The winner of this match, Keith Lee, will face NXT Champion, Adam Cole on Wednesday in a winner takes all championship match.
So, what show will I be watching? I’ll probably watch NXT over AEW this week as I can’t wait to see Lee vs Cole but I’ll probably tune in to AEW next week to watch Jon Moxley vs Brian Cage for the AEW World Championship.
At the end of the day, both companies trying to best each other in the Wednesday Night Wars just means us fans get better quality wrestling shows. So it’s a win-win for us!
