Conor McGregor has been under fire lately after sucker-punching an old man in a bar in Ireland. I won’t lie, I used to be a McGregor fan and when everyone said to me he was a douche, I ignored and said it’s all part of his plan to sell fights and earn some cash.
Now he’s had phone incident in Miami where he got arrested for breaking the phone of a fan. He said in regard to that issue ” I must be calm. I must be zen,” and the issue with the old man which is just unforgivable.
Anyway, the main point of this is to address McGregor’s statement that he’ll never retire. So basically disregard anything he said over the last couple of months. In my opinion, that’s great. We as fans get to see a great fighter still compete in a stacked lightweight division. He also reels in a lot of money for the company as well.
However, when McGregor says he’ll never retire and he’ll fight till he’s gone does that mean we’re still gonna see the Notorious One fight when he’s 60? I’m joking of course but the man came across serious when he said it. So maybe he’ll fight until his mid 40’s. We’ll see I guess.
Maybe McGregor means that if he gets in a rematch with Nurmagomedov that he’ll fight to the death. However, does McGregor deserve a rematch? Khabib mauled him and even Khabib said himself he would like to fight someone on a winning streak.
Even if Mcgregor gets his rematch, Khabib still has to face Poirier at UFC 242 on September 7th and if he wins Tony Ferguson must be in line for a title shot so he might have to wait for a while for his chance for maybe another 9 months or so.
