Wasted Talent in WWE #10

The return of Wasted Talent in WWE. I know it’s been a long time since I posted this series l but it is back. Today we are here to talk about the Empress of Tomorrow, Asuka.

I don’t know what it is with WWE and ruining NXT talent but its a reoccurring theme that needs to stop. On the top of my head, I can name at least 5 NXT stare that have been wasted on the main roster: Finn Balor, Bobby Roode, Sami Zayn, Bayley and SANITY. And if u count all SANITY members as one person each then that counts as SEVEN superstars. I know everyone can’t be a champion at once but if you’re bringing up talent then get rid of the old washed up wrestlers. Anyway, let’s get into it I’ll save talking about NXT talent for Sunday.

Asuka is the longest reigning NXT Women’s champion with a reign of 510 days. She didn’t even lose the championship. She vacated the championship on August 24th 2017. She’s won many championships in Japan such as the Ironman Heavymetal Championship 5 times. However, when she lost her undefeated streak to Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania 34, Asuka just faded away and now she’s in a useless tag team with Naomi. So how can Asuka be saved?

Firstly, turn her heel. If you remember Asuka’s run in NXT she was a good heel, she disrespected the likes of Ember Moon brilliantly, Her minds games were excellent and I loved it. This heel turn is going to be on Naomi because that’s who she’s partnering with. So Asuka and Naomi lose to the Iconic duo (not calling them the IIconics) due to a Naomi mistake. In a rematch, on the second Smackdown after Evolution, Naomi is the cause of the loss again and Asuka is starting to get angry with her, however, she holds back her anger. Two weeks later Asuka and Naomi face off with Absolution and Naomi hits Asuka. This would be the last straw, Asuka brutalises Naomi, she locks in the Asuka Lock and she doesn’t let go until Naomi passes out.

The next week Asuka finds Naomi backstage and locks in the Asuka Lock again from behind, however, Charlotte Flair comes to the aid of Naomi preventing her from passing out again. The following week on Smackdown the survivor series teams are announced and Flair and Asuka are announced to be on Team Smackdown. They argue leading up to the match. And in the match, Asuka causes Flair to be eliminated.

This builds up to Charlotte Flair vs Asuka at the Royal Rumble. This is a match that Asuka comes out on top. She wins clean and on Smackdown she comes out and says the only reason Charlotte beat my streak at Wrestlemania last year is because I was too nice. Charlotte demands a rematch which she loses and Paige announces that the winner will face Becky Lynch the Smackdown Women’s Champion at Elimination Chamber. Asuka and Lynch try and outwit each other mentally, using twisted mind games to get into each other’s heads. Asuka wins the match at Elimination Chamber to become champion but Charlotte Flair won the Elimination Chamber match making her the no1 contender for the Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania 35. However, Becky Lynch claims her rematch at Wrestlemania. So it’s a triple threat between Asuka, Flair and Lynch.

This will hopefully be a classic that Asuka wins due to a double Asuka lock hopefully starting the start of something special for her main roster career.

Before I go, I want to put my heart out to Roman Reigns. I might not be the biggest fan of “Roman Reigns” but as Joe Anoa’i I love and respect the man. Get well soon Joe!

As much as I liked that I believe she is just not clicking with the main roster Fans.

Same happened with Bayley.

I still haven’t figured out what they are doing wrong but I think is the assumption that WWE fans are the same as the NxT fans. Assuming they can just continue what they had in NxT is just not working.
